A kindness‑first guide to keeping SITP safe, respectful, and welcoming.

Secrets in the Pages is a community‑focused event built on kindness, respect, and inclusion. We want every reader, author, volunteer, and vendor to feel safe, welcome, and valued. By attending SITP, you agree to uphold the following standards of conduct.

 

1. Be Kind & Respectful

We ask everyone to:

• Treat others with courtesy and kindness

• Respect differences in background, identity, and lived experience

• Use inclusive language and be mindful of others’ needs

SITP is a space for connection, creativity, and celebration — let’s keep it positive.

2. No Bullying or Harassment

​

Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or aggressive behaviour — in person or online — is not accepted.

This includes:

• Spreading rumours or misinformation

• Targeting individuals with negative behaviour

• Verbal abuse, threats, or exclusion

• Any behaviour that makes someone feel unsafe or uncomfortable

 

Anyone engaging in these behaviours may be asked to leave the event.

 

3. Professional Conduct

We expect all authors, vendors, and attendees to:

• Communicate respectfully

• Handle disagreements privately

• Avoid public call‑outs or online conflict

• Contact organisers directly if issues arise

 

4. Social Media Conduct

 

We love seeing your posts about SITP — but we ask that you:

• Avoid harmful or inflammatory content

• Refrain from escalating personal disputes online

• Contact organisers privately with concerns

 

5. Human‑Made Creativity Only

​

To protect the integrity of our creative community:

​

• Generative AI tools may not be used to create, edit, or produce any creative content associated with SITP

• This includes AI‑generated writing, imagery, branding, or promotional materials

• All creative work shared at SITP must be human‑made

 

We proudly support real authors, real artists, and real small businesses.

 

6. Immediate Removal Clause

​

SITP may remove any attendee, author, vendor, or participant without prior warning if their behaviour:

​

• Poses a safety or wellbeing risk

• Breaches this Code of Conduct

• Disrupts the event

• Damages SITP’s integrity or reputation

• Violates Australian anti‑bullying or harassment standards

 

This applies to both in‑person behaviour and online conduct.

 

7. Safety First

 

Please follow venue rules, accessibility guidelines, and staff instructions. Unsafe behaviour may result in removal from the event.

 

8. Respect Privacy

Do not share private conversations, grievances, or sensitive information publicly. All concerns are handled confidentially by organisers.

 

9. Reporting Concerns

​

If you witness or experience behaviour that goes against this Code of Conduct, please speak with the event organiser. We will address all concerns professionally and with care.
